RECENT MAYORALTY ELECTIONS
NEW YORK ELECTS O'DWYER
One of America's eminent public opinion research organizations conducted a poll of New York voters some time before the recent mayoralty election. This study not only indicated an O'Dwyer victory but revealed an apathy among voters which is probably typical of the average municipal election in America. One third of those eligible to vote felt that "no matter which of the candidates is elected, the city will be run about the same." Most voters were more "against" opposition candidates than "for" their own.
